This is an update in relation to the termination of EDF Tax Limited and its strategy business and includes details of continuing defence arrangements for clients.

It is with regret that we must inform you that EDF Tax Limited will not be offering tax strategy arrangements beyond the conclusion of the current ECHO arrangements which are scheduled to complete in February and March 2017. Consequently, EDF Tax Limited will cease to trade.

We would like to reassure you that this decision does not affect the ongoing defence arrangements of planning entered into via EDF Tax Limited. The separate defence arrangements remain unaffected and details of the relevant contacts in this respect are available here: EDF Defence Arrangements 2017

There is no single factor responsible for EDF Tax Limited’s decision. The cumulative effect of recent and forthcoming changes in the tax avoidance arena make our role as a promoter of tax strategies economically unviable. This date was always going to arise; however the recent announcements in relation to Professional Conduct in Relation to Taxation (effective from 1 March 2017) and the proposed penalties for Enablers of Tax Avoidance (which will be included in Finance Bill 2017), have hastened its arrival.

We would like to thank all our clients and introducers for their support over the years and would reiterate the message that ongoing defence arrangements are not affected by this decision.
